I've seen the end of the day come too soon
Like the prison dogs they set out after you
You owe nothing to the past but wasted time
To serve a sentence that was only in your mind
In your mind

It's nothing that I haven't seen before
But it still kills me like it did before
No it's nothing that I haven't seen before
But it still kills me like it did before

[livejournal.com profile] burkean's list is pretty close to mine, so I've chosen to jump in using his permutation of the meme.

Your meme, should you choose to accept it, is to rank the following bands in order, from COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT to COULDN'T CARE LESS. To add value to this process, you must also add one band to the list, and remove one band from the list, before passing the meme on (including these instructions).

Joy Division/New Order (they count as one band, right?)
Siouxsie and the Banshees
The Cure
Dead Can Dance
The Doors
Duran Duran
REM
Nirvana
Bob Dylan
David Bowie
Johnny Cash

dumped: Sex Pistols

Eric Bloom (Chris Parnell): Well, it's just that I find Gene's cowbell playing distracting! If I'm the only one, I'll shut up.

Buck Dharma (Horatio Sanz): It was pretty rough.

Gene Frenkle (Will Ferrell): You know, I could pull back a little. If you'd like.

Bruce Dickinson (Christopher Walken): Not too much, though! Fellas, I'm telling you - you're gonna want that cowbell on the track!

Haven't got a lot to learn
And my eyes they stray again
Looking for a satellite
In the rays of heaven again

There's no other ending
Sunday sun
Yesterday is ending
Sunday sun

-----

Little one, just a little way
Today all of the dreams are waking

Can't stand on crooked legs
I'm cross-eyed to the wall
In these harbor lights
Satellites explode

Drown, drown, sailors run aground
In a sea change nothing is safe
Strange waves push us every way
In a stolen boat we'll float away

Little one, hold on
All of the dreams are wasting

From [livejournal.com profile] shaunathan: 20 bands I've seen live. Dang, have I actually *seen* 20 artists live?

16. Joe Bouchard (of Blue Oyster Cult) ('92)

If some of those look out of place, it's because a few of them were concerts I went to with friends, family, or spouse...

Just to show I haven't spent the whole week moping about in a stupor, I just uploaded a song I've been working on over the past week inspired by the VITRIOL formula. I'm pretty proud of the way this one came out. I also uploaded a remix of "Strange Syntax," and an entry in the Blue Man Group remix contest. (Personally I think my remix is a considerable improvement over the original, LOL.)

The past couple of days I've been grooving on stuff from acidplanet.com... A number of very talented goa/psytrance artists post stuff there for free listen and download. It can be a mixed bag, but if this style of music is your cup of tea, I've been assembling a playlist here of the better material I've found so far.

My second loop-based thingy made using Acid is "Strange Syntax".
sophiaserpentia: (Default)
Addiction, thy new name is Acid.

Sonic Foundry's Acid Style 3.0, that is. I picked this up yesterday, along with a few sets of prerecorded loops.

My first effort can be heard here.

I thank you
For bringing me here
For showing me home
For seeing these tears;
Finally I've found that I
Belong
Here.

Why is it that I look and feel like a zombie this morning? Perhaps it would have something to do with showing up at V.'s place with a fifth of Smirnoff last night around 7 and staying until 2 chatting with her and her roommate.

This is one of those rare songs that gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. Even the lyrics give me goose bumps. I'm not sure why. I think it hits home somehow. I know I've been given to posting song lyrics a lot lately, but this should be the last for a while. Really.

Stay (Faraway, So Close!) )

It is IMPOSSIBLE to feel bad listening to this song.

Especially when you watch Christopher Walken dance to it.
