I dreamed last night that a shadowy internet personality (who was kind of like an online version of Brian O'Blivion) announced that he was creating a new purely-digital currency named "Z." While Z was mostly just numbers in a database, it sometimes appeared as a holographic image of coins and bills.

Must be a better word than digital currency. I know what you mean, but all currency is digital, isn't it? One has three pennies or four, but not 3.5. So coins and paper money is not really analog.
