While digging through my boxes last night for some old notes i want to incorporate into my ongoing writing project, i found my cache of old newsletters from transgender support groups to which i belonged almost 20 years ago, along with correspondence i received during that time period from folks like Dallas Denny and Holly Boswell.

The correspondence i want to hold onto, but the newsletters may have some historical value. I'd love to find out if there are any LGBT archivists in the area to whom i could contribute these. They'd take better care of them than i have. Anyone have any suggestions?

They are interested in receiving the collection! It's kind of fascinating that something i boxed away and schlepped around without giving much of a thought for two decades could actually be of historical interest.

But i got to thinking how it's a shame how much of our history has been lost to 'phobia and hate and we have a chance now to preserve some of it, even that which seems mundane: these photocopied newsletters with makeup tips and electrolysis ads and the occasional small group politics. It's what we *had* before the internet to remind us that there were other people like us in the world.
