We are witnessing the emergence of a South American superpower. There's barely any mention of it in the U.S. media of course, but the governments of several South American nations just recently formed the Bank of the South, a leftist-Socialist answer to the neo-colonialist IMF and World Bank, and are talking about creating a unified South American currency.

more or less a mon-sequitor, but

I went to your journal without being logged in and got a notice that said that there may be adult content. So I clicked the button saying that I'm at least 14 years old. Then I get a page with all of your entries cut, saying that I am about to view content that may not be appropriate for minors. So you have to click on two separate pages saying that you're not a minor. Shh! Don't let those kids find out that the south might be competing with us! :)

Now to be somewhat on-topic, I'm curious what the situation is like in Argentina. I was there in January '03 after the peso had been significantly de-valued. Hmm; looks like the value of their currency hasn't changed significantly since then relative to the dollar, but I gather their economy has recovered. People were saying that a lot of tourists were coming when I was there because everything was so cheap for foreigners, while tourists usually didn't come before because it was expensive.
