Headline from the New York Times: "Poll Finds Concerns That Bush Is Overly Influenced by Business"

Well, DUH! You vote for a Republican presidential candidate with an MBA, what do you expect? Two years ago, that was precisely what the public wanted, wasn't it?

I Agree

You put an oil man in the oval office and are shocked that his energy policy favors energy companies? If you elect a born again Christian you have to expect that you get folks like Ashcroft as the Attorney General, private school vouchers, and government funding of religious social services. You elect a self-proclaimed "Reagan Republican" and you're going to get reductions in estate and corporate taxes and government deregulation. You elect a Bush, you're electing the cabal of folks like Rumsfeld and Cheney -- who didn't get to finish the job the last time they were in the White House. Everyone knew that. We're getting exactly what was advertised. We wanted oligarchy ("government run like a business") and we got it. My only beef is that I wish he would stop the folksy nonsense. As Maureen Dowd said, "he was born on third but thinks he hit a triple."
