For anyone who may be interested: this came to me in email from [livejournal.com profile] tw1stedwh1spers

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/new_orleans_gnostic_voodoo/

This group is for the discussion of the Voudon Gnostic Workbook by Michael Bertiaux, Waters of Return: The Aeonic Flow of Voudoo by Louis Martinie, the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot by Louis Martinie and Sally Ann Glassman and other related works and ideas. It is also for the discussion and coordination of events and rituals in New Orleans based on the application of those works. Living in or around the New Orleans area is not required for membership on this mailing list.

Names I've not heard in Decades. Knew a few folks who had been involved in Sally Glassman's Enochian Voodoo events...at the time that squicked me pretty bad...that combo flavor...and still occasionally instills some cognitive disonnance

Huh, anything mixed with Enochian seems weird to me, personally.

It was all the rage back in 1990. Had a friend of was involved in a GD temple and he also thought it was a bit odd as well, coming from a GD angle.
Don't know if anyone anywhere is still doing Enochian Voodoo.

Don't remember if Sally mentioned anything about it in her book that came out in the mid-1990s...and unfortunately I gave it to Miss Mara as a bday gift (we haven't talked in years) cause her aunties practice Santeria and other similar SoAm and Carribean trads.

Huh... I can guess how well THAT went over.

I've not seen Bertiaux's work, but if I recall correctly, he was associated with... oh, what was the Typhonian dude's name again?... Kenneth Grant. So I'd expect something along those lines, which means "gnostic" taken to mean "esoteric, but with heavy influence on bodily fluids."

'Gnostic' here is a reference to Martinism. Bertiaux's work is quite different than Grant's. It's pretty interesting. I am always surprised to see his name come up.

Ah, thank you for the clarification.

associated with because they both knew each other but Bertiaux at least didn't like Grant. I saw a rant by him of the sort. Bertiaux doesn't like a lot of people, though.

My husband met Grant and he liked him. Back when I cared about such things, I found laughable errors in his books, but there's no doubt they are typically entertaining.
I've always thought it'd be cool to have whenever someone doesn't show up any more to group events to claim they'd been eaten up by something with tentacles in a fishbowl.

I like that. Whenever anything goes wrong, give a Grant excuse. :)
