The director of the CIA says he has an "excellent idea" where Osama bin Laden is hiding, but that the United States' respect for sovereign nations makes it more difficult to capture the al-Qaida chief.

from Goss Claims He Has Idea Where Bin Laden Is

No, wait, don't tell me, let me guess. Iran?

I'm betting Pakistan. Musharraf is under huge pressure from pro-Taliban forced in his country not to collaborate with the US too much.

If he's in Pakistan, Pakistan's "sovereignty" wouldn't be an issue because we are already searching there.

I put sovereignty in quotes there because it almost seems to be a code-word for the Bush Administration.

Hahaha that's rich.

Yes, this admin deeply respects soverign nations. I'm totally blown away at their profound respect for them.

Exactly :P Since when do we care about soverignity? It's never stopped us before.

Yep. I think they interpret "sovereignty" as "obstacle that keeps us from doing whatever we want, when we want."

Yes, that's a thought. Hmm. He's got extensive family there and an active network, and he knows we can't really go looking for him there.

However, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see the administration start to claim he's in Iran, because it would serve their purposes.

Being as they are saying they are respecting sovereign nations in reference to this, it seems more likely they would be talking about Saudi Arabia, as they are looking for an excuse to invade Iran. Like, they would say "We know you evil Iranians are harboring this terrorist, give him up or we will invade you like we did Iraq." Unless, of course, they realize what should be obvious at this point - that if we can't even definitiively subdue a beaten down nation like Iraq after it's been through years of sanctions, we have no hope of beating Iran, especially with the extremely low morale of the military, which can't meet its recruitment quota and is now getting by on screwing those who should have been released from their terms of service by now. And a draft won't do much for morale if they do decide to finally go that route.

I'd be willing to bet he's safely with the Saudi's but we'll attack other places, claiming he's there. It'll be a world-wide Where's Waldo, only with a depleted military doing the hunting.

Actually, he's hiding under my desk. And really needs a bath.

Is he stinking already? I gave him one last week and even let him keep the bar of soap. And tell him I want my PSP back; the bastard stole it!

He tells me he
1) just pretended to take a bath
and
2) Ate the soap...best meal he's had in two years.

Sorry, but i call BULLSHIT on this one. If they really knew where Osama do you really think something like a border would stop them? Gee, let's look at the evidence...

Actually I think they to know where he is but if he's captured then the War On Terror and all their excuses for abusing us go away...

If it's Saudi Arabia, as [livejournal.com profile] lady_babalon suggests, then yeah.

Hmm... yeah, he makes a useful boogeyman.

Osama is working at a 7-11 in Chicago. the CIA knows this. But *searching* for him makes for a good excuse to invade other countries.

Are you serious? I knew the search was a hoax, but if he were working at a 7-11 in Chicago, wouldn't he be reported all the damn time? Or was that a joke?

Most certainly. They also know that after that, he is going to Syria, North Korea, and then the ACLU headquarters.
