My shopping trip last night officially marked my rededication to low carb.

I'm craving sugar now pretty heavily. Sugar! I must be strong and persevere. The downside to low-carb eating is that cheating is an absolute no-no, especially in the early days. It throws everything off for hours, if not the whole day.

If it is your will, read my post about the Trinity here in [livejournal.com profile] challenging_god and here in [livejournal.com profile] convert_me.

The discussion there is usually lively and interesting.

The only conversion to date was an atheist who converted to Satanism.

Most of the members are not really interested in converting from their religion.

The community was the brainchild of [livejournal.com profile] t_h_mitchell, an atheist who wanted to challenge Christians to convert her. (Her? I think it's "her.") [livejournal.com profile] revkaos suggested they make it an open community where anyone could try to convert anyone else. But most of us are just there for the discussion.

I've been walking the line with going back to doing that, too. My friend, Miss Robin, has already gotten back on the wagon and is currently sugar detoxing.

The first time I ever did it, I had a horrible time getting away from the sugar. And then after it was all completely gone from my system, I discovered the existence of sugar free candy and chocolate. This time go round should be a lot easier on me. ^_^

Yes, my experience matches this. I remember being almost "high" the first few days away from sugar. After that I felt more highly energized than I had in a long time.

This time around I have a better idea of what to expect. Although I forgot just how much of the food in the supermarket, in stores, and in restaurants, just happens to be exactly the kind of carbohydrate food that has to be avoided.

I find that eating flour, potato or sugqr really increases carb craving. Just like alcohols need to stay clean, so do us carb addicts. After several years, the cravings after an ocassional binge is fairly easy to handle. But for the first 6 months or so, the cravings are rather horrific. The only which kept me on a low carb diet in the intensly craving period was fear of having my feet amputated from non-healing diabetic ulcers.

!! I'd call that an incentive.

I know the truth of what you're saying; after a time, regular food starts to taste better, and sugary things seem almost intolerably sweet -- so it is not so hard to stay away from them, if one stays "off the horse."
