Well, I have my journal in a new format using S2. Please tell me what you think.

There are a few links on my info page that generally use up a lot of my time.

But here's a couple of good ones:

Trogdor the Burninator

Wrath

Wrath was kind of pointless, but I love Trogdor!!! Thanks for the links!

I've also been screwing around with the S2 layouts.

Oops, somehow the second link got botched. Here it is again:

Yours is a lot easier to read than some I've seen. I hate the ones where the threads are shown by wider & wider colored margins.

Being somewhat Luddite, I'm sticking to the old style for now.

Actually I find the color margins between comments on the same thread to make it much easier to keep up with what-comments-are-responses-to-what-comments. The white margins make this almost impossible to parse in very involved conversations.

The new formats are taking a moment or readjustment for me, but I dig yours! ;)

I like it.

I haven't gotten around to looking into S2 -- was switching over much of a hassle?

Naah, I didn't find it difficult at all. I had to increase the darkness on the text, though, with this particular color scheme.

I am using a similar format to yours -- but my colors are far different. Do you know of a way to change the size of the text when viewing other people's LJ? I found the controls to enlarge the text on my LJ, but it does not apply to me viewing http://www.livejournal.com/users/alobar/friends and the strain on my eyeballs is quite annoying.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. I had to enlarge the size of the font myself, the LJ developers seem to be fond of extremely small fonts. But I think there are ways, in the advanced customization options, to "force" posts on your friends page to follow a certain format.

If you are using IE I think you can select a larger default font size, does that work?

I do not understand the complexities of S2, the Component layout, or why IE sometimes let me change font sizeon some web pages, but on other web pages, it does not. In dealing with this particular problem, I discovered the following:
a) If I edit cusomizations on the presentations tab of http://www.livejournal.com/customize/layer.bml?w=user&journal=alobar , the font size changes in my LJ -- I presently have it set to "hulk" --(http://www.livejournal.com/users/alobar/ ), but size does not change on my Friends page (http://www.livejournal.com/users/alobar/friends/ ).
b) I can also change the font size in my personal LJ by using the font size menu from IE. But the IE font size menu does not cause any change in font size for my Friends page.

I went to http://www.livejournal.com/customize/advanced/layers.bml and edited the layer I had customized with the wizard to be able to change the font to something other than the very few choices given in the wizard. This was good. But I saw nothing to change font size on my Friends page.

So far, I have not dug any deeper.

I like this layout ... the only thing which annoys me is on the day view there is no link to go forwards/backwards by a day. Maybe they've fixed that now.

Your links look a little bit out of place in that shade of purpley-blue.
