Friday night I saw Matrix Reloaded at the IMAX. It was worth watching on the huge screen -- it underscores the attention devoted to detail by the movie makers, and watching it again gave me a chance to revisit more deeply the Gnostic and esoteric themes visited in the movie.
This time I caught something I missed earlier -- the fact that it was the Oracle who was responsible for the "unconscious complicity" that allows humans to remain tapped into the Matrix. So we have a scheme like this: the Architect created the Matrix, but the Oracle made it possible for humans to function in the Matrix. This is vaguely reminiscent of the scheme described in the Hypostasis of the Archons, where the Demiurge created the universe, and even the human body, but it took the breath (pneuma) of Sophia to make the human body rise and move around. Edit: It is also Sophia who is responsible for raising the awareness in humanity of their plight at the hands of the Demiurge; this is another detail that translates into Matrix Reloaded.
Sunday Dee and I went to the company picnic, where I was amazed when Dee said she wanted to attempt to climb the "rock climbing" setup the company had brought to the picnic for entertainment. With the assistance of the attendant and myself Dee was able to climb halfway up the rock wall. Quite impressive for someone who needs a wheelchair or a pair of crutches to get around.
Afterwards we saw Pirates of the Caribbean, which was entertaining enough. Sensitive types might complain that it glorifies violence, and they would have a point, but it's not like troubled teens are going to aspire to be pirates on account of a silly movie like this one.

In that sense there was a matrix within a matrix (people in Zion and the ship crews thinking they were free of the matrix when really they were just on another level of it.)
