I must disagree with the statement "... much or most BDSM practice reflects a culturally-standard male-dom fem-sub arrangement" if this implies that men in the BDSM community tend to be Dominant. I am very active in the BDSM community and i promise you from what I have seen, in the United States at least, all over the country, is that most of the time it is the men who are the Subs. They are tired of having to be in control all the time, and the women are glad to take over. Women are idolized in the BDSM community.
