California has done something I never imagined possible: Louisiana's gubernatorial politics now look sane and normal by comparison.
I've been told that 11 years ago, when the voters of this fine state had to choose between Edwin Edwards (a known criminal) and David Duke (a former grand dragon of the KKK) that bumper stickers could be seen saying, "Vote for the crook -- it's important!"
This time around, we have a contest going between two overwhelmingly normal candidates. Well, the Republican would be normal, if he wasn't actually a 32 year old Indian-American. I actually kind of like Bobby Jindal, I think the state could do worse when it comes to picking a governor, even though I really do hope he doesn't win. Nothing personal, Bobby. I just can't abide by anything that resembles theocracy.
