My sister asked for some Dali user icons. So i made these:

Snag 'em if you want 'em.

Meh. Well, i'm not as l337 as i'd led myself to believe, apparently.

So, i bought a computer. For the price, it seems like a decent deal: a 1.8GHz AMD 3100 Sempron with 512 MB, CD-RW and DVD drives, and a Seagate Barracuda 160 GB hard drive, for $350.

My mission: swipe out the hard drive from my old PC (because it's set up the way i want and need) and install it as the master drive on the new computer. This should be a relatively simple operation, of the kind which i've done before.

But it's not. In fact it failed so spectacularly i was afraid i had damaged my old hard drive.

First, the jumper settings on the new hard drive are factory set to "cable select," because there's no way to remove the shunt; it is apparently built in. There's no way to remove the hard drive and put it in another slot, more easily making it the slave via cable order, because i can't open the other side of the box, it's sealed with some weird sort of screw that does not fit any screwdriver type i've ever seen.

Furthermore, the new computer is not able to find the house wireless network. It can see between 5 and 8 other wireless networks in the neighborhood, depending on what comes up when i refresh. But not the household network.

Furthermore, when i disconnect the new hard drive altogether and attempt to go with just the old hard drive in the new box, it won't even boot Windows in safe mode. Nothing seems to be wrong with the BIOS, but my knowledge in that is pretty limited, so i could be missing something.

So, i'm back to using the old PC with the old hard drive.

Meh.
