Predestination and elect-elitism is one of the primary issues that drove me away from Christianity, and so it is a matter I have spent a lot of time examining. Some of this is old ground for me, some of it is realization that finally sank in this morning.

Friends,

There is a lot of mean-spirited stuff being done in legislatures that I'm seeing a lot of you panic about.

If it's not congressional overtures to limit the powers of the Supreme Court, it's overtures that would effectively create a US theocracy, or define homosexuality as a crime against nature.

Take a deep breath, and relax.

Yes, these things need to be opposed, but understand a couple of things first.

Politicians do these things because they want to excite you. They want cheers, of course, but boos also help them. It's free publicity. This is an election year. Of course lots of nonsensical, snowballs-chance-in-hell legislative measures are going to be proposed. Yes, some of them would be dangerous, if they passed. They won't.

This is all just part of the political process.

So please, calm down.
