I once wrote that the experience of gnosis, when it occurred, was a cosmic event because the mind of the individual is one with the Cosmic Mind. Arrogance!

To have done more to help Iraq, would have required the UN to see Iraq's sovereignty as irrelevant.

The nation-state, as an experiment in the history of humankind, is drawing to a close. It is irrelevant in the face of multinational corporations that wield more wealth and power than many nations; it is irrelevant in the face of a global imperial power unafraid to use military might to enforce its will.

Maybe, though, it's a good thing if the idea of nation-states comes to an end. A global hegemony might be the only way to ensure that no one anywhere lives under an oppressive regime.

Unless, of course, the global hegemony will inevitably become itself an oppressive regime. In which case, the sovereignty of nation-states is our only hope.

So many of the people on my friends' list are going through really bad times right now. Maybe we should all go grab a daquiri together or something. ;)

Actually, I'm rather fortunate in that when I am depressed, my instinct is not to drink. This sounds like an instinct I should keep around.
