If a dreamwidth post is cross-posted here and there is a link in the post you can follow, dreamwidth will recognize your LJ ID and allow you to comment there.

The first time, the process is a pain in the ass. One is bounced around between various Dreamwidth pages, then to LJ who asks you if it is OK to do what Dreamwidth requested. But then Dreamwidth remembers the info and it is as painless as replying to an LJ post.

There's also the option of syndicating the RSS feeds of folk's public entries so they can be read here without them having to cross-post.

I have some friends doing so, though I finally used the openid thing, the few comments I have left I get no email notification of so I've just stopped. If you've moved to dreamwidth, I consider it a voluntary exile.
