fair warning

Alright, i haven't done anything about twitter posts, even though i think they are ugly as hell. One post a day, i can scroll past it. But starting Monday i will remove people from my default view for making a separate Blip.fm post for every song they listen to. That's when it rises to the level of spam.

Cutting twitter posts in one's own journal is the first step to enlightenment. Why do more people not accept this?

I don't mind people LJing their tweets in a single daily lj-cut-using post. It's just that 99% of this content is meaningless to me since it arrives on my friend's page entirely out of context. And the format which LoudTwitter uses to plop them into LJ is atrocious.

And so The Twitter Wars begin. =)

This isn't a twitter war. It's a blip war. I grumble at the hideousness of loudtwitter posts (it's the cyber equivalent of urban sprawl imo) but i can live with it. An entire friend's page full of "now i'm listening to THIS song" posts, one post per song, takes it too far. When it was just one person doing this, i grumbled and scrolled on. Now i've seen it from three or four people and i assume it's just going to continue to increase.

An entire friend's page full of "now i'm listening to THIS song" posts, one post per song That bit of hideousness took a moment to sink in. Ack!

I'd just fucking delete them...

I haven't seen one of those yet, but yeah, if they start appearing on my friends list that person will be off my default view really fast! I've even removed one or two people who only post twitter feeds, because they're rarely ever worth reading.

And if there was a way to filter out non-lj-cut memes from the rest of my friends list I'd do that too.

My FList hasn't met critical mass yet, but when it does, I will probably post a similar fair warning. What bothers me is that I've carefully cultivated my FList to include intelligent, insightful posters, and they are gradually replacing their high-quality writings with twitter-type spam.

I was thinking about this t'other day, I've decided to separate out my various social networks.

You're right, my Twitters posts don't make much sense in one dump, and I wouldn't want to post each one separately. As it is, my journal that, I like to read back on occasionally is now filled with daily cut posts.

Then there's the whole thing about shipping my Tweets to my Facebook status is starting to annoy me too - ironically that was the whole reason I started using Twitter.

So no need to worry about me, LoudTwitter is off.

I haven't seen anything like that yet, although I've had a friend connect Twitter to his lj so that he'd, for instance, have one-line posts saying things like "Good morning everyone!" or "I'm off to bed; good night." Now he's deleted his lj.

Yeah, I've unfollowed people (on Twitter, not LJ) for blipping too much.

I really hate the Twitter posts too though.
