So, I finally got around to watching Torchwood 03x04.

So, THAT was your big plan, Jack? Run in there and talk tough and call their bluff? And, for added measure, shoot at bulletproof glass!

I almost wish the Prime Minister had succeeded in having you killed off, you appear to have made things that much worse.

Most pathetic waste of a plot-device-death EVER. Yeah, let's shoot at aliens who are in a tank full of noxious gas. And who are famous for germ warfare. And your partner, who is mortal, isn't wearing a hazmat suit. Brilliant, eh? I blame the writers, not Jack. :p

Wait till you see episode 5!

Maybe RTD did this to show the difference between Jack and the Doctor. The Doctor would have done the same thing... but he knows so much about everything, that all he has to do is get the bad guy talking for a minute and he can figure out (1) who they are and (2) what their weakness is, and shortly thereafter (3) how to exploit it. So for the Doctor, "Just get me in there" is enough of a big plan.

He also, I think, wouldn't have done the same thing in 03x05. I mean, where did that pad even come from that they made Steven stand on in order to transmit? If they had that pad, surely they had some other kind of transmitter there.

Great minds think alike...take a look at this:

and after you read that (it's short), have a CoE-mocking macro:

I'm glad I saved these things to memories. :-) Now I really should be packing for my trip.

I guess this is why it had to be a TW episode; the 456 would not have even been that much of a challenge for the Doctor.

Have a great trip!
