You've tagged this post with "american imperialism", however this is not an act of imperialism — it is the opposite. While it might not be anti-imperialistic in a revolutionary manner, it is a looting and divvying up of what remains of the empire.

All empires collapse. So this act of looting by the aristocrats is an act that one would expect to see happen in an empire.

True. However, imperialism is empire building. This is empire dismantlement for personal profit and greed, which is by definition not imperialism.
