nearly mindless entertainment

StarCraft is slowly working its way under my skin. At the very least, it is very good for teaching you how not to panic under suddenly stressful conditions.

"Okay, three of my Battlecruisers are 'locked down' and taking a pounding. All my Wraiths are gone. Don't panic. Add more to build queue. Now, collect support troops into Dropships and ferry them over there. In time. Don't panic. Nuclear launch detected? Where? Where? Found it. Move troops away from doomed structures. Well, shucks, there goes the last Battlecruiser. I *think* I have enough resources to recover..."

Well, there's always the option of slowing the game speed down. If one wants to be a wussie. LOL.

The first couple of times I played it, my thought was, well, okay, this isn't going to be nearly as addictive as Civilization II or Call to Power. Heh.

I'm just now getting to the Zerg missions. The Zerg kick ass, and they have better music.

i'm definitely a zerg girl. though they have one glaring disadvantage (all biological), the theme of insectoid filth is just near and dear to my heart. and kerrigan is GOD.

Heh. Sometimes its hard to listen to, but I dig the squicky crackly carapace-splitting sounds when units mutate or eggs hatch.
