I laughed out loud, but my god, these people are serious!

"Carbon dioxide: they call it pollution; we call it life!"

[livejournal.com profile] ineffabelle commented on my post the other day to say that the pre-pregnant thing sounded 'cartoonishly fascistic.' I have to say, this tops it. It is as duplicitous and Orwellian as anything i can possibly imagine.

The only consolation i have is that maybe this is the last gasp of greed before people start thinking and acting sensibly about global warming.

I'm going to my happy place now, I'm going to my happy place now, LALALALALALALALALA

That is beyond twisted.

I'm definitely using the 'We call it life' campaign next time I teach Composition and Rhetoric. It'll definitely be fun to discuss.

Being of a scientific bent, yes, CO2 is part of life, and crucial to the balance of [biological] things here on Earth... but... um... context, please? Could we have a little bit of context?

Ow. My brain hurts now.

I'm sure I'd laugh if my mouth wasn't suddenly full of my gastric contents.

...No, I'd cry.

5 or 6 years ago, I saw I NOVA special on global warming that mentioned an industry sponsored campaign called "the Greening of Planet Earth" that pushed the idea that more CO2 would lead to better crop yields, summer vacation spots increasing in tourism, and lower home heating costs. The shear gaul of these people is astounding.

If it were not true, it would be a satirical advert campaign on an episode of the Simpsons.

It makes it even more demented when your partner is studying life and biological sciences. She used a newspaper link to poke fun at the conservatives on her University Forum.
