Bubonic Plague carrying mice have been missing from a New Jersey counter-terrorism lab for two weeks.
It's still one of the most potentially dangerous diseases known to humankind, but authorities want you to not panic. Reassuringly, the article says, "Among other things, the rodents may have been stolen, eaten by other lab animals or just misplaced in a paperwork error. If the mice got outside the lab, they would have already died from the disease."

Hail Eris!
"7. And under Eris Confusion became established, and was hence called Bureaucracy; while over Bureaucracy Eris became established, and was hence called Discordia."

Heck, vets out here put their kids through college removing "fox tails" from pets' eyes/ears while east coasters have no idea what they are. Left intact, the buggers can work their way into the body, destroying lung or even spinal tissues, and cause serious damage. We treat them as "yeah, no big deal" because they aren't when plucked early, but back east, a progressed case might be misdiagnosed repeatedly as the pet suffered worse and worse damage/pain.
