Me? Sticking up for the pope? If there was a hell, I'd ask someone to check the temperature there...

I have had many a debate with that guy, if there is such a thing as Episcopal fascist, he is it. He "informed" about the nature of Protestant Christianity in the United States even though I live here and he is in the Pascific. And also belittled me because he assumed I was a woman.

I'm sorry, who exactly are you referring to as an "Episcopal fascist"?

still interested in hearing who the "Episcopal fascist" is. Anytime you like.

Read the other thread. Couldn't agree more. Kissing the Koran was an act of brotherhood, not a call to conversion. Thanks for pointing out the convo.

Agreed. Its one of JP2 finer moments--and the prayer at the Weiling Wall.

My disagreements with the church of my ancestors aside, I do have a great deal of respect for the man. I've read several of his books. His way of the cross is an interesting read.

thanks for taking the time to comment. Makes a pleasant change to have some exchange of differing views rather than everyone simply agreeing.

Where in the Koran does it instruct to exterminate all Christians?

From what I know about history, Islamic theocracies had time and again been far more tolerant of other religions than Christian theocracies.

I vaguely recall part of Koran instructing to NOT be violent toward other religions, but to be respectful.

Is this what you're referring to?

Qur'an 29:46-47 Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider)

And dispute ye not with the People of the Book except with means better (than mere disputation) unless it be with those of them who inflict wrong (and injury): but say "We believe in the Revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our Allah and your Allah is one; and it is to Him we bow (in Islam)."

And thus (it is) that We have sent down the Book to thee. So the People of the Book believe therein as also do some of these (pagan Arabs): and none but Unbelievers reject Our Signs.

Perhaps. Perhaps it is addressed in a few places, too. Thank you.

When the Pope kissed the koran he was acting AS Christ. Thats what Christianity LOOKS like. Take a look X-ians.
