I would like to add my voice to the chorus of those opposed to Frienditto.

zannechaos has some good information about this tool and its creators. Given that I write many friendslocked posts about sensitive subjects, I must request that anyone on my friend's list who uses or may wish to use this tool, please let me know right now. If you are willing to use this tool, I am not interested in sharing the details of my life and thoughts with you.

Does anyone know if Frienditto can unlock filtered posts?

I hereby declare I will not now or ever use Frienditto. I've no idea how it works, but I wasn't going to test it out.

I used ljArchive (http://fawx.com/ljArchive/) this morning to back up my whole journal. Am hoping that's safe, however it's not stored online anyway, just my hard disk.

Frienditto has access to any locked or filtered post if someone on that filter has given them their name and password. If your friend can see it, andthey use frienditto, everyone can see it. Even if you delete it later or make it private later.

I see this thing exploding all over my friends page today.

Just wanted you to know I will never use this or anything similar.

Frienditto's operating costs have increased dramatically in the past 48 hours due to a massive influx of users wanting to view the site. This increased traffic combined with bandwidth costs is threatening the site's continued operations.

Heh. Just mentioning their existence seems to have been enough to put them out of action!
