The people that don't understand the cultural context under which these "abominations" arose are usually interested in subjugating people, albeit almost always unconsciously. I laid awake last night wondering why people concern themselves with other people's sex lives, and I'm unable to come up with any better explanation than that they're simply interested in denigrating other people's practices to glorify their own. Maybe I'm stuck on Nietzsche, but I haven't seen anyone offer a better explanation.
