I find that eating flour, potato or sugqr really increases carb craving. Just like alcohols need to stay clean, so do us carb addicts. After several years, the cravings after an ocassional binge is fairly easy to handle. But for the first 6 months or so, the cravings are rather horrific. The only which kept me on a low carb diet in the intensly craving period was fear of having my feet amputated from non-healing diabetic ulcers.
