In other news, I am being treated for carpal tunnel syndrome. I went to the doctor before it got really bad -- and so far it is not affecting my ability to function in major ways -- but it is an annoyance nonetheless.

I have decided to resume working on my book, too. Well, maybe decided is not the right word -- I am being called back to it. I set it aside when I realized I wasn't sure of what I was trying to say. Now I have a clearer idea of where I want to go with things. The only fear I have is whether or not anyone will be interested in reading Loony IdeasTM from someone who doesn't have a PhD.

Actually I'm not terribly worried about that. I am primarily writing for me, to collect my thoughts in one place, and if any of it is worthwhile, I sense that readers will find it somehow.

I'm glad to hear you're getting the care you need. And writing can be therapy of its own sort. :)

What's your book about? (And, if interested, how could a person get an advance copy? :)

Yes, we will read what you have. ;)

I'm sorry about the carpel stuff. Blah. I have a somewhat mild case of it. There's good days and bad days, and times where I have to soak my hands in hot water to get them to function.

Hope it all goes well.

Sorry about your carpal tunnel, hope you get relief.
Congratulations on your writing, I enjoy hearing what
you have to say.

Yesterday I did some interesting reading. I determined
that the two bibles I wanted were the Good News Bible and the New Jerusalem Bible. I was able to get a GNB, hardcover, illustrated, for CANADIAN $4.00, could not find a New Jerusalem. But I did find a paperback Psalms, from the Jerusalem Bible, a beautiful and poetic translation indeed, for only CAN $2.00.

Today I got two pristine paperbacks for CAN $4.00: THE NAKED APE, by Desmond Morris, and THE POWER OF MYTH, by Joseph Campbell. Books are cheap here.

As you are aware, I feel the medical "profession" (I use that term very loosly here as I do not think these people are professional in the least bit) cause far more harm than good. If you are not taking a *large* daily vitamin supplement, I'd suggest start taking a good powerful multi-vitamin plus additional daily B-6 supplementation (100-200 mg a day total between the multivitamin & the B-6). No instant relief, but it may undue some damage over a few months. Don't take B-6 without the multi-vitamin.

Eating spinach daily can assist with pain managment better than many NSAIDs and do not damage the liver or kidneys the way NSAIDs do. Bromelin (pineapple) and ginger are both anti-inflamatory as well.

Cutting out most carbohydrates (particularly sugar and flour) & the wretched seed oils (olive & coconut are fine, trash the rest) from diet may help a lot as well.

Arnica (in homeopathic dose) works for some on inflammation. Try to get homeopathic dilution. Strongly concentrated arnica is not nearly as effective as homeopathic.

A PhD might help you get published, but I don't think readers care a lot. I know *I* don't care whether an author has a doctorate, butthen, I've worked with too many PhD types to be fooled any more.

Carpal tunnel seems to be the occupational disorder of people our age - sort of like the "button pushing finger" syndrome in the Jetsons, which was very funny then - not quite as funny now. I have a mild case of it, don't do much of anything for it other than try to rest my arms occasionally and take anti inflammatory drugs when it gets really bad. You might try massage or something, too. The concept of that surgery is frightening.
