You know, I'm not sure if I am wise to any degree or not.

Any wisdom that I might have hasn't kept me from being really dumb on occasion. It has, however, helped me to recognize the fact of my stupidity much quicker than I used to.

What more could one ask for?

The ability to recognize impending stupid actions before doing them?

You want to learn form other people's idiocies rather than your own? Or maybe to live in some ideal realm where all can forsee the consequences of all actions? Not enough drama for my taste. Forethought is nice, but by no means the only basis for decisions I must make daily. Sometimes I would like what you suggest, but most times I just blunder towards perfection, one day at a time.

I don't mind so much making my own mistakes once. But sometimes it feels like I keep repeating variations on the same idiotic themes over and over.

Well, hell, I'm still young.

Oh! I full well relate to your frustration. I do not mean to imply I am beyond it in any way shape or form.

I suspect I shall be thinking myself still young until they nail the coffin lid shut on me.
